Domo Broadcast Systems is showcasing a new ultra-lightweight, image-stabilised wearable camera workflow at IBC 2026, bringing together PROTON’s new PROTON IS miniature broadcast camera and Domo’s Raptor Talon compact COFDM transmitter.
Ref-cams have quickly become one of the most exciting new tools in sports broadcasting, giving audiences a closer, more immersive view from the heart of the action. Yet turning that potential into reliable live pictures has not been easy. Referees and officials are constantly moving, which can lead to distracting camera shake and motion blur, while fast-changing lighting, complex RF environments and compression demands can all affect the consistency of the live image.
The combination of the PROTON IS and Domo’s Raptor Talon is designed to solve these challenges in a practical, production-ready way. PROTON IS brings miniature split-camera design and live image stabilisation, while Raptor Talon adds Domo’s proven, low-latency wireless video performance in a compact form factor. Together, they create a wearable solution that delivers stable, compelling point-of-view pictures without placing unnecessary weight or complexity on the person wearing it.
The PROTON IS camera head measures just 20 x 20 x 22.5 mm and separates the imaging head from the processing and power unit. That split architecture makes it well suited to wearable deployments, where comfort, balance and heat management matter. Its integrated image stabilisation helps reduce the natural bobbing motion of a body-mounted camera while keeping the immediacy and energy that make live sports coverage so engaging.
Raptor Talon TXR provides the wireless link for the workflow, with a compact 55 x 38 x 17 mm design, low-latency 1080p60 video transmission and integrated camera control via UHF return. Its small size and robust design, including improved connector reliability, make it a strong fit for live, body-worn HD contribution in demanding RF environments.
At IBC 2026, Domo is presenting the solution on a mannequin fitted with a bespoke vest carrying the PROTON IS, Raptor Talon transmitter, battery and associated control electronics. The demonstration will show how a stabilised miniature camera and professional wireless transmitter can be integrated into a lightweight wearable package for referees, sports officials and other on-body production roles.
